floyd2.0 113 Report post Posted April 5, 2016 Hello folkz, I'm looking for a small, not to expencive, DJ audio interface (external soundcard). When I look it up on the internet, first one I come across is the NI Audio 2: http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/traktor/dj-audio-interfaces/traktor-audio-2/ yeah sure, loud and small, but is it any good? A friend of mine uses a Focusrite Interface for producing music. Now these babies look like they are really good! The Focusrite Scarlett Solo: https://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-solo It's s quite small and not expencive. but i wonder, is that a good one for DJ'ing? So, what audio interface are you using?
neil (spatialize) 77 Report post Posted April 5, 2016 I've heard that the UAD Apollo solo/twin has a pretty amazing sound but that's more for production.
snowdrop 73 Report post Posted April 5, 2016 I use a Numark DJ|iO, which is very cheap and small. It does the job and I've never had any problems with it. Can't comment on the sound quality in terms of comparisons with other interfaces.

Gagarin Project 400 Report post Posted April 6, 2016 NI audio 2 is pretty OK, many DJ's on the mainstage use it, it cost around 100 euros and as i know it is not easy to beat it. what is good that you can use it for both internal and external traktor mixing. note that DJ soundcard has to have loud outputs for MAIN OUT and for your headphones. Some production soundcards don't provide this. the advantage of other "bigger" cards that you can have MIC IN or LINE IN for recording or for using external instruments live. schofield 52 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 The old M-audio Fast Track Pro is still serving me well after number of years. However I do think it suffers from the lack of "loud outputs for MAIN OUT". But still, it's once in a blue moon that it leaves the house anyway. It's pretty old now, so I'm sure you can do betterer. neil (spatialize) 77 Report post Posted April 8, 2016 I've got a fast track pro too. suffers from slight digital noise. I did an A/B test between my fast track pro and the standards outputs from an imac. I couldn;t tell the difference. Schofield: the fast track pro does have balanced outputs too which may help but I would rather not use a soundcard with balanced outs for live use. With the predominant set-up being to plug into a standard mixer or dj mixer, using a balanced cable does raise some possible issues. Unbalanced leads, as long as they aren;t too long, offer the least chance of a fuck up (according to a live sound engineer I know).

Mønsterhed 41 Report post Posted April 12, 2016 NI Audio 2 all the way if all you need is two stereo outs. It's a plug and play thing. It just works, in my experience. I use it when connecting to club mixers if I don't want to bring my Z1. Prefer the analogue mixers over digital. No latency is a great thing when mixing

Gagarin Project 400 Report post Posted April 16, 2016 BTW if you play on DJM 900 you cna just install driver and not even take your soundcard out of your bag, just use DJM as 4 channel soundcard of course is better to try to use it before the gig, but for me is very stable but you still need to learn how to setup easily. it can be also handy if you forgot soundcard or cable. also so you know, CDJ2000 can be used as soundcard (1 channel), once i forgot soundcard and then i used 2 CDJ2000 as "aggregated sound device" and had it all work nice.
