  3. thanhk you for joining me in this one person link sharing topic, actually i would love to see an aftermovie, more then a video of a set for Eclipse. If you find it or older aftermovies please share in correct topics. i will add a promo video for Eclipse Festival 2014, Canada. (i guess it showa bit of atmosphere of previous years)
  4. AxonGenesis, i like your work, good productions many genres explored, a bit of new age feeling in some tracks, and trance in others. p.s. By the way, Dhamika new album has also track with name "energy flow", you might be curious to compare.
  5. thanks for sharing your discoveries ! i added E-Mantra video to the video clips thread, psybient videos are rare, let's collect them carefully. http://forum.psybient.org/index.php/topic/59-video-clips/
  6. E-Mantra & Reasonandu - Words You Said (official video)
  7. Hello Hindicah, bravol ! i like a lot your track, love the vibe from the begining till 4 min. The part after is also good, but this morning i prefer relaxed and less emotional atmosphere. Actually second part remind me Shpongle tracks ! As for sound it is pretty good, but not crispy clear, it can be either mp3 compression or mastering. Looking forward for update 4
  8. +1 what's your approach and workflow? Do you tag your files by EAR or MIK (mixed in key) ?
  9. Traktor DJing My personal advice for traktor dj's is to put headroom on -6, master out on -3, internal recorder +3 and if you need more volume amplify on the external mixing table. Analog amplification is definitely better then going to red in digital. Traktor S4 controller Tips don't put the analog volume master gain of controller to maximum, when possible try to put more gain on mixer, as i believe mixers can have better amplification.
  10. Levels and playing in red Nothing new, but i guess it is good to remind yourself about redlight (volume meter): - don't go read on line channel - don't go read on master channel http://www.djtechtools.com/2015/01/15/throwback-thursday-how-to-dj-trust-the-levels/ p.s. From personal experience i am not a fan of high volume, and i usually use my custom made air protection (-15dB). So i never push volume to sound louder then others. But, last time when i played in small club in Paris, the owner of the place came to me and put up all the gains, i played "all" in red. He said don't worry it's OK. the soundsystem was not very good, and with playing red i didn't have impression that it became worst. So i guess here "trust in-house sound engineer" rule apply.
  11. Let's share here personal tips and articles that might be interesting for fellw dj's
  12. interesting question, personally the idea of being dependend financially on my music creative process scares me. If inspiration and ideas are not there i would like not to force myself to produce. I think possible direction of combining music and making living can be: 1 - make living with related to music works. It can be studio work in other styles, making soundtracks or commercial, sound ingeneering for live concerts , theaters. 2 - to work part time or freelance on some non-music job. In western world the cost of living is very high, so this will probably require either to find a way of minimizing you daily spendings, either finding a higher payed jobs that will allow to work less (for example you work 4h in office and use free time for art). 3 - make music in commercially succesful genre. This one is probably the harders path. The first things that comes to mind is psytrance. It is incredibly competitive genre and find your way to the top will require many hours of training, but it can be well payed in the end. And the advantage of this path is that you will learn many things about the music and productions. looking forward to read other thoughs about all this.
  13. as for best of the year is also not really an objective exercise, because this year thee were > 700 releases referenced at this page. i will speak for myself, i have probably listened to 100 of those, so basically i will be able to vote only for some of the one i listened without possibility if being objective. Nevertheless if we are 50 people to make the poll happen it can be already a very interesting preselection. I am actually thinking that two rounds of selection are necessary. In first round we pre-select releases and in second round we really give points to each release in order to have the real top 10.
  14. maybe the name of topic is to changen the goal is not to choose the absolute winner, but to help each other to discover something good. so basically if you have time to listen to one-two of all week news, then you can come back here and if you like it vote for it. it will be a recommendation to others. Or even without voting just comment the post. So basically we will be highlighting together and not absolute "best of the best".
  15. Shpongle - Live In Concert (At the Roundhouse London 2008)
  16. can you tell what you do step by step to maximise volume in audacity? do you add on the equal gain all over the track or you adapt to different tracks in the mix different gain? i also record internally on traktor with a use of S4 controller, so all the mixing EQ are recorder. and i use external mixer to adjust EQ to the soubdsystem (basically i try not to touch eq on master, it is sound ingeneer job to keep things adjsuted). As for S4 EQ i also try to keep them "neutral", producers know better how it shall sound. Exception is Tecno music, where i like to play with EQ to make live remixes of 3-4 simultaneous tracks.
  17. i had much pleasure to listen again to Cosmic Replicant - Soul Of The Universe - 2014 fav track : Lost Signal and Goopsteppa - Moving On - 2014 fav track: Cruciferous
  18. i apply the golden rule "treat other the way you want to be treated". Also as i listen to my mixes a lot, i "prepare" them the way i think is handy. p.s. i change the topic name... not sure professionally was the best word to use.
  19. jungle and drum-and-bass will stay for long ! Would love to see the documentary about psychedelic downtempo / psybient / psychill ! any video producers with time available?
  20. Any MacOS users here? what do you use to rename files / and change massively tags ? i still didn't find a good tool for MacOS. My fav software for this is WIndows Version of Tag rename.
  21. thanks for sharing guys, we have different approaches and that's perfect: as for filenames, what i do recently for V/A maybe is a good way to go "tracknumber - artist - title" for albums i prefer "artist - tracknumber - title" as it is easier to use if you mix sometimes using usb compatibe "CDJ" or need to play a track from USB at somebody else equipement. as for folder structure, i prefer: Genre / Artist - Album - Year (Label) / tracks or Genre / Artist - Discography / Artist Album - Year (Label) / tracks
  22. Treat others as you would have them treat you. - this is trully a golden rule for any type of relationship! i can't find words now, but there shall be some golden rule about "NOW and HERE". it will come back to me.
