Jop, I once read that the answer to who and what we are lies in our eyes. When you take a closer look and give it a thought the Iris has allot of similarity with a nebula/galaxy. All those beautifull colors and a black hole in the middle. Just like theres a black hole in the centre of most and also our Milkyway.
