  1. Artist: Fjernsind

    Album: Dør

    Type: EP

Style tags: Ambient, drone, noise, dark ambient, psychedelic

Media type: Digital Download/streaming (Bandcamp for now)
    Year: 2018
    Label: Flystyrt
    Catalog ID: 0042
    Length: >00:14:49

I know this is a relatively old release, but the reason I post it now is that I thought I already posted it back when I made this EP available originally, and as I just updated it with a new improved mix of the second track "A Lullaby" I intended to post an update in the old thread with a note about this, but then discovered I never actually made a thread about this release.

Better late than never I guess, and having updated this old EP with a new mix of one of the songs featured on it I guess is a good reason to finally do it.

So here the 2 track EP "In Dreams" is, which is available for free download and listening through the project's Bandcamp page: https://fjernsind.bandcamp.com/

This is the artwork for the EP:

  2. Made this dark drone track less than a week ago with my drone/ambient/noise project, that just recently had a name change, from sharing my own real name, Jacob Læby, to Fjernsind.

The name "Fjernsind" is a word play on the Danish word for "Tele-vision", "Fjern-syn", that directly translated means "Distant-vision" or "Remote-vision", so instead of "syn" ["vision"] as the last syllable, the Danish word for "mind", namely "sind", is used.

The title of the track was taken from a line in Clothes of Sand by Nick Drake:

Does it now seem worth all the color of skies?
To see the earth through painted eyes
To look through panes of shaded glass
See the stains of winter's grass

    - Clothes of Sand, Nick Drake

As always the track is up for free download and listening through the project's Bandcamp page: https://fjernsind.bandcamp.com/album/stains-of-winters-grass

  3. I actually made this track years ago, but just decided to re-master it and make it a part of my drone/ambient/noise project in my own name Jacob Læby.

It consist of a couple of layers of improvised acoustic guitar played on top of a programmed beat and a couple of programmed synths.

In some regards it's rather lo-fi and quirky, but in my own opinion that is part of it's charm and just adds to the overall mood of the track.

It can be downloaded for free from Bandcamp: https://fjernsind.bandcamp.com/album/piggys-wink

I also made the artwork for the track myself:

    2qclbeq.jpg

Edit!!!:  As you can tell from the player, that actually still functions, I changed this project's name from sharing my own real name to Fjernsind, which means that the original link I shared in this post to my Bandcamp profile doesn't work anymore, so here's a new one: https://fjernsind.bandcamp.com/

  4. An update and apology:

    .

But due to economical reasons I sadly realized that I coudln't afford putting out a physical CDR version, as promised, of this release.

At least not currently, though it is still the plan to do so sometime in the future.

As for the digital release through various online stores and services, such as iTunes, Amazon and Spotify, the release has been postponed as well, though finally it should be available through said stores and services within about a week from now.

  5. This is the most recent track I created:

Edit!!!:  As you can tell from the player, that actually still functions, I changed this project's name from sharing my own real name to Fjernsind, which means that the original link I shared in this post to my Bandcamp profile doesn't work anymore, so here's a new one: https://fjernsind.bandcamp.com/

As you'll also noticed the single turned into a 2 track EP, feuturing one of my older tracks "A Lullaby" as well.

This track was created from pieceing manipulated samples from an old song titled "A Dream" with my lo-fi folk project "...and for such a long time" together (I also turned it into a 2 track EP in the meantime, using an older track called A Lullaby to follow it).

    Lyrics:

    In Dreams

I know a place where the wind is whispering songs
    humming through the meadow

as a pattern on our closed lips

I know a place where the skies are painting pictures
coloring thoughts as the willows weep a sad song
as a pattern on our closed eyes

I know a place where I used to hide my deepest secret thoughts

    In dreams

  6. So I had this old unfinished track that I made in collaboration with a friend who left our mutual project and gave me free hands to use the material we had worked on together however I saw fit, so yesterday I dug this track up, remixed it completely and recorded a vocal part for it.

Turned out quite nice in my own opinion.

Today I even made a video for it and put it up on YouTube (for now YouTube is the only place where it is up).

I might use it for a future release with my drone/ambient/noise project where I am already using two of the tracks I did together with said friend (unsure at this point though).

    Here the video is:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNDqTmgB4ag

And the lyrics for the track:

    Zero Divided by Zero

Will ignore everyone and everything my self included
as I have reached an elevated state of non-being
as such become one with the omnipresent void behind and beyond all creation
and come undone in the spiraling all seeing eye
which center reflects the absolute singularity of matter, mind and spirit
unified inseparably in the polychrome polygon's infinite angles
that square the circle of existence
and touch the untold truth within the unseen view of none
repeated indefinitely as zero divided by zero
The lie that is not, hence isn't a lie at all
yet nothingness is as never has been:

    Vacuum
    Eternal
    Supreme

A door that leads from any room into the collapsed entity of every room.

  7. An update and apology!:

Due to economical reasons I sadly realized that I coudln't afford putting out a physical CDR version, as promised, of this release.

    Year: 2018
    Label: Self released
    Length: 74:48

    Track list:

    1. Den Hvide Død (The White Death) 07:26
    2. Return to Center 03:07
    3. It All Falls Apart 03:16
    4. RBG (an examination in chromesthesia) 04:02

    7. Labyrinth 08:26
    8. The Golden Dawn 04:51
    9. Electric Cave 05:20
    10. Canary 08:30

    A bit about the album:

A 75 minute long journey through strange mesmerizing and enchanting drone, ambient and noise soundscapes awaits the listener on this album, which tittle Dør means both Door and Dies in Danish.

Available for free download and listening via Bandcamp, and will be available through various online digital music stores and services, such as iTunes, Amazon and Spotify e.t.c mid November at latest (though I count on 1st of November) where it also will become available in physical CDR form that will be sold from the project's Bandcamp page.

Why I found it necessary to revisit and re-release the album and what consequences that have:

This is a revisited re-released version of an album I released just about a year ago, the new version miss 4 of the original tracks, has two new tracks added and as a consequence of that had the track list completely rearranged  and the overall playtime reduced from close to 1 hour and 45 minutes to just about 75 minutes.

It happened because I finally realized that over 1½ hour play length is too much for an album, especially one containing tracks that somewhat challenges the listener like it's the case here.

Also I suddenly realized after listening to the album again in it's old form for the first time in a long while that a few of the tracks were flawed to some extend and didn't really function properly dragging the overall listening experience of the album down.

The old version of the album will continue to be available on Bandcamp for free download and listening, in case there are people who has grown fond of some of the tracks that have been scrapped on the new version, but the old version that is currently still available though the various online digital music stores and services, such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify e.t.c, will be replaced with the new one as soon as it is out.

The name "Fjernsind" is a word play on the Danish word for "Tele-vision", "Fjern-syn", that directly translated means "Distant-vision" or "Remote-vision", and instead of "syn" ["vision"] as the last syllable, the Danish word for "mind", namely "sind", is used.

  8. good luck with Solo path : :)

    Thank you :) ...

What I have in mind preliminary for the new release seem to be of a more experimental nature than the old Electro Jar, likely more diverse in expression between songs, a fair deal of odd meters, where we used to primarily stick to the 4/4 format, also likely more pure electronic in nature, despite I was the one doing the physical instruments back when it was a duo.

Also I ponder on doing more actual singing on the tracks, where we used to predominantly use spoken word and synthesized speech.

Finally, while I think the majority of the tracks will still be in the downtempo spirit, there will for sure be some more upbeat songs on it as well.

That is of cause if everything goes as it seems right now and that I can actually utilize the old tracks I have lying around as a foundation to build up the new tracks.

If for some reason it turns out nothing good can be extracted from them, then who knows what I am going to end up creating instead, when I will be ready to present the first fruit of my work and when finally a whole full length release eventually will be ready.

But as said, as it looks now, a couple of moths, maybe even less, would not be unrealistic to expect that at least something new and finished work from this project is done.

Time will show if that is going to be just a single or perhaps yet another EP.

  9. It is possible we were working fast at that moment, but since not much has happened with Electro Jar as a result of the other half of the project, Jackie Rasmusen, leaving.

However finally this EP, which consist of the last 3 tracks we managed to make together, will actually be released digitally other than through Bandcamp, and at some point next week it should become available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and similar online music stores and services.

In my personal opinion this EP might also represent our most consistent, best executed, produced, most experimental and pure psychedelic work.

Also I plan to get some old tracks done alone and thereby continue Electro Jar as a solo project, which might result in a full length album.

Most likely an eventual new release is a couple of months out in the future though.

  10. Made some changes to the album Dør as well as the availability of the track Canary.

Decided to add the track Labyrinth as the opener to the album Dør, that now features 11 tracks, since it seemed to fit perfectly in there.

Also it didn't seem to make much sense to make Canary exclusively available as a bonus track with a full download of the album Dør, when everyone would still be able to just go to Spotify and listen to the the track.

So beside the it still being a bonus track that comes with a full download of the album Dør from Bandcamp, the single featuring Den Hvide Død and Canary is now also available through Bandcamp, and still for free.

It can be listened to and downloaded here:

Edit!!!: This single is not available anymore, but both mentioned tracks features on the revisited version of the album that came out last year (2018) and can be listened to and downloaded for free here: https://fjernsind.bandcamp.com/album/d-r-2

  11. I uploaded a brand new 8 minute and 26 second ambient/drone track for free listening and download through Bandcamp.

For now it is not part of any album or a planed release through my net distributer, but might become so in the future.

Promise to update in the album and EP forum in that case.

    So here's the track:

Just wanted to share, although feedback is welcome.

Personally I think it might be my best track since Den Hvide Død (The White Death), which is the opener on my new album Dør.

  12. And a bonus track was added as well, that comes with a full download of the album.

The track is called Canary and is a little different from the other tracks in the sense that is is more rhythmically founded, but still somewhat in the mood sphere of the rest of the tracks.

The only way to get it is with a full download of the album from the project's Bandcamp page, or wait about a week where it will be out on a 2 track single as a B side to the title track Den Hvide Død (the white death) through various online music stores and services such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify e.t.c

This bonus track and B side will not be included on the regular version of the album.

Here's the artwork I made for the track Canary:

Finally finished the making of sort of a full length compilation album of tracks I have previously released digitally in form of singles, EP's and other stuff with my drone/ambient/noise project in my own name.

It is put together such that it forms a coherent experience of a musical journey and consist of 11 tracks of various length that sums up to over one and a half hour of drone, ambient and noise music.

It is up for free on Bandcamp and coming the beginning of June it will be up on various online music services and stores as well, such as iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

It is the plan that I will later finance a homemade physical homemade double CDR including extra cover art, which will become available for ordering via Bandcamp (when exactly this will happen is unsure though).

With the full download of the album comes the full set of artwork to create ones own double CDR (including disk art), everything needed to do this will be a paper, printer, scissors and glue.

The tittle of this album Dør is the Danish word for Door (but in Danish that means Dies as well).

  16. I usually prefer building my percussion tracks from scratch, usually starting with the kicks and then whatever comes to mind.

When we are talking Electro Jar, my freind Jackie who is also a part of the project usually build up the kick drums himself and then like use different drum loops he then manipulate.

Also I like to chose the percussion sounds I use for the beat to fit the song, some of the percussion even sometimes acts as part of the melody.

  17. Most of my music is happy accidents, sometimes it's just not as happy as other times, I just try to follow along the best I can where ever the track, my intuition and associations takes me.

The rest is trial and error.

Of course I have got some idea how to make something specific happen, but my point is that this too, the very idea about what I want to happen is still a product of where ever the track might have taken my associations.

This mean even planed things have a certain amount of spontaneousness to them.

I do have certain routines I stick to most of the time though, like usually starting out with  the drums, and usually the kick too, and then when the drums are done I typically will go on and work out the main or basic bass line, then everything else is build upon that, not saying that everything is set in stone and that the drums and bass can't change into something else along in the process.

The predominantly non-instrumental music I make usually start out as a guitar or bass pattern, or even a finished piece of lyrics and then building on that.

Another recurrent thing is to use two or more tracks for one recording of vocal or certain instruments, one without effects and the others more heavily effected, so I can blend and pan the two as I like.

Whenever in doubt I try to apply a lot of distortion, reverb or delay or all of mentioned, for guitar especially vibrato and tremolo is nice  :P

Oh, and I almost forgot, arpeggiators makes great stuff allmost all by them self and messing with the delay time while a repeat is going on can make it for some rather out of this world sounds. .

  18. Edit: I added two new songs to the album, and therefor I have updated information in this post, also you should know that track number 2,3, and 4 on this release hardly fall into the category Psybient.

Edit#2: New Cover too for the EP added.

Edit#3: New track added, and the order of the tracks rearranged.

Edit#4: Sorry, but this album developed into something else than first intended, now having 13 tracks, where only few of them can be characterized as Psybient. If a moderator want to delete this thread, because the album no longer really fit into the intention of this forum, I will be perfectly fine with it.

Here's the lyrics to the tittle track (including English translation):

    Lav 10 englehop på stedet,
forestil dig samtidigt, at Jorden følger dine bevægelser,
således at dine fødder på intet tidspunkt modvirker tyngdefeltet.

Tænk på at du er en lille blåglaseret hul lerbold,
der bugter sig i oceanernes bølger.

Løb med lukkede øjne ned til nærmeste busstoppe sted,
mens du fastholder billedet for dit indre blik.
    Stå på den første bus,
og fortsæt din rejse ind i natten.

    Translation:

    The center, the false spot!

Do 10 jumping jacks on the spot,
Imagine at the same time that the Earth follows your movements
so that your feet at no time counteracts the gravitational field.

Remember that you are a small blue glazed hollow ball of clay,
    meandering in the oceans' waves.

Close your eyes and run to the nearest bus stop
while maintaining the picture in your mind's eye.
    Jump on the first bus,
and continue your journey into night.
