nice one Maia, I hadn't really had a chance to give this one a good listen until now, it was just auto added because of Shanti Planti, but I agree this sounds awesome.

you might like Comisar and JuJu Beats, chill bass although not quite as psychedelic as Lobe. I'm digging Zonra a lot too though.

Goico & Wireless Brains are interesting sounding psybient too. (lurii, thanks for listing Wireless Brains, I know you put it under chillgressive but since the majority of the EP is psybient that's what I changed it to, although track 4 is definitely chillgressive)

I wish I could listen to full track samples of Key G's EP but for some reason Nutek Chill has stopped adding their releases to bandcamp recently and are only putting them on beatport, itunes, etc.

Oh my goodness Lobe is so gooooood!

Had a quick listen to Bluetech, Zonra and Subset, looking forward to getting the time to go deeper with them.

But seriously, Lobe! Where have these guys been all my life??

There's a few singles in this week's list that are from releases where the rest of the tracks are too uptempo to qualify here, so I only posted the single chill track from the release, namely:
Cabeiri - Aranyani from VA - Forest Soul Gathering 2017
Ocean Star Empire - Planting from the Plasma Manifold album
Tepezcohuite Sound Project - Welcome Back (Dub Version) from the Welcome Back EP

Over on the right hand side it says there is a new post made today (June 2) that says there's an upcoming event on June 11th, so I guess they're still active.

On a side note, isn't it a huge band with 10+ members? Sounds like a lot to keep track of.

    edit: nevermind, from their website:

4 votes for Pablo Selecta by 4 people who only voted for that release and nothing else? Looking kinda suspicious there Pablo.

Next month I'm going to enable the option to let you see who voted for what, if I see a bunch of brand new accounts voting for the same release and nothing else, foul play is suspected and all votes will be deleted and all those accounts will be banned. Fake votes will absolutely not be tolerated.

Edit: turns out its just friends of Pablo coming here to vote after seeing a facebook post of his highlighting this poll. Still, I would encourage those newcomers to check out some of the other releases here too though.
but the above point still stands. (maybe I should clarify that if it looks like multiple accounts are from the same IP address, those are what will be considered "fake".)

Beatroots is next level bass shizzle!

Only listened to the first few tracks on the Iondriver release, liking what I hear, especially the Sixis and Shwex track.

Didn't notice new Iacchus so I'll give that a listen when I get a minute, he always seems to have very interesting and often very beautiful ideas.

I haven't ventured into the depths with Whitebear yet as I haven't been in the right frame of mind ... but will get there this week for sure.

Also looking forward to getting to Vinny's album, and thanks for the heads up on Pranasonics and Ashnaia Project G!

(so yeah, I'll leave voting until I've actually heard all this stuff! )

So much amazing music coming out of the woodwork now ready for summer, eeeeee! ^.^ <3

I was excited to see a new album is in the works for Interchill Records called "Last Ship To Paradise", hopefully it will be a return to the sound of "Back To Earth".

Oooooh new Nimbus ^.^ This is smooooooth! I usually throw him on to bring the bop, but this is juicy in a much more chilled out way I like it.

Vinny Vortex! Vin is a mate from years ago who reappeared in my life a few months ago, and it's unlikely that I would have heard this release if I hadn't known him as it's not the kind of thing I usually go for these days, but I'm really glad I did. It's really nicely put together and I love his musicality, and he really has a way with leads I think

Nibana... I think I'm going to need to have a listen of this when I'm feeling a bit more robust Excited for that moment though, sounds like pretty intense shit!

Hey guys, I decided to bring back the weekly polls but there will still be monthly polls as well. Since I can edit the number of votes in the monthly polls, I will copy over the votes from these weekly polls into that month's poll so they'll all be in one place, but you'll still be able to vote in the monthly poll as well.

timeisart got a reaction from yiannis in 2017 Monthly Release Poll #2 - February
So this is the main drawback of this forum poll, how I can't put links to the releases in the poll options themselves.. you have to go to the weekly threads to see the links, such as this week's thread (where your release is IooN). this along with the "None" options I had to put in due to this forum forcing you to pick one from each genre is also annoying.

Those who visit the /r/Psybient subreddit know that I also recreate the monthly polls using a different poll creator site, which does allow me to put the links in the poll options as well as album art, and lets you skip any genres you haven't heard anything from yet. Here is what that February monthly poll currently looks like.

Next month I think I am going to just post a link to the poll maker site poll here instead of making a separate forum poll, because this will allow me more time for making that single poll look good with album art and all the votes from both reddit and here will be in one central place so I don't have to add up the votes later. The link to this poll could also be posted anywhere around the internet and anyone can vote in it without needing an account. Plus the fact that I'm actually having to pay a monthly fee to use that service makes me want to get the most use out of it as I can.

well it's kind of a rigged solution but I added a "None" option to the bottom of each genre, use that to skip to the next genre and complete the poll.

looks good, my only concern is that the large number of options might be overwhelming for some people, even if it is broken up by release type (album, EP, compilation, etc.) I don't know how to remedy that next year other than divide it further by genre maybe?

Hopefully people have an idea of what releases they want to choose before even starting the poll, then they can just use CTRL+F to find them like you've stated in the poll.

I love Groove Salad! Rusty Hodge is a badass. He got me into a lot of the great acts on the now defunct Pork Records like Fila Brazillia, Baby Mammoth, Leggo Beast, Momma Gravy, Moss, etc... all great downtempo.

On topic now, http://www.di.fm/psychill is a good one.

Hey guys, I'm experimenting with different formats for these new weekly release lists without the polls (there will now be monthly polls instead). I thought separating the releases by genre was a good idea, but should I get rid of the spoilers and just display the bandcamp players by default? or any other ideas on how these should look?

timeisart got a reaction from Lorn in psychill is dead ?
I think the 1,200+ psy downtempo releases this year speaks for itself, it's still going strong.. but since a good bit of those are of the psybass variety, many of the original psybient lovers may be alienated by the way part of the scene has evolved as has been said. but it's not all uniform, there's still plenty of good actual psybient coming out of labels like Microcosmos, Mystic Sound and Altar Records that should satisfy most chillers.

There doesn't seem to be an ambition of psybient artists to expand into the mainstream to convince skeptics that it's not "dead". Personally I prefer that it remains underground because once large amounts of money get involved music tends to turn to shit.

That's a great idea yiannis.. I've occasionally noticed that some late votes will be added to the previous poll (not the current one), indicating that people might need more time to listen to releases before they make their votes.. so if there were still weekly release presentation threads (to introduce the releases but not containing polls) then at the end of the month have a big poll containing all of the month's releases would be the best of both worlds in my opinion.

timeisart got a reaction from yiannis in news - 2016 - W47 (November 14-20) - release of the week poll
well keep in mind that's a combination of different genres, here's the actual breakdown:

    Ambient - 166
    Bass - 264
    Chillgressive - 50
    Downtempo - 63
    Dub Techno - 11
    IDM - 38
    Psybient - 408
    Psybreaks - 11
    Psydub - 80
    _____________+
    Total = 1,091

So something like 400 psybient releases might be too much for one person to listen to but I think it's encouraging to see many artists keeping the psychedelic spirit alive.. it's not like there's a lot of money to be made making downtempo psy so the majority of these were made out of love for the art. In fact one could argue that we're going through a kind of digital renaissance 2.0 right now.

not sure what they're going for with that Mose Robert release, that house style is not my cup of tea at all. I only listed it because it's on Desert Dwellers' label, but even DD themselves aren't turning out as good of stuff nowadays as their Downtemple Dub series was imo.
