Just love CBL albums - my fav is "Hydroponic Garden"  but "World of sleepers" is most personal as I`ve got serious illness in short time after I bought this CD and was in coma for 3 weeks - then my wife put headphones over my ears with music from this album as she knew how much I like it, (hoped it`ll help me to get better soon)  - she was absolutely right   I belive it could be effect of sample from track "Abiogenesis"  ( "wake up" )

btw. :  Remastered by Vincent ( Aes Dana ) reedition of "Interloper"  will be released shortly

ancientrealms got a reaction from unknown music in Rules of life you learnt and want to share
Something I've learned over the years is rules of life are followed, not for personal honor, reputation or gain; but namely for life itself. However, we all need a starting point to get us going down the path of light.

The Golden Rule is such a place to start. In my view, all things start from this point.

Treat others as you would have them treat you.

A simple starting point but the more you follow it, embrace it, understand it, the more you realize this simple concept has what is Infinite within it.

This isn't specifically for this topic but I suggest checking out these plugins.

They are all free and probably some of the highest quality plugins available. I was happily pointed to them by Grains of Sound who use them for their productions.

ancientrealms reacted to yiannis in What do you do to make life of people around you better?
I try to make people around me see the funny side of life. I encourage my (mostly teenage) students to do their best and praise them when they do well. Also, I try to teach them by example that it's OK to be an individual and not follow the norm if it doesn't appeal to them. I try to remember to show my wife I still appreciate her. Finally, I play with my four-year-old niece and nephew as often and as much as I can.

    1. I Import the track. I always try to use the same 'Project Rate' as I recorded themix in (44.1, 48k or 96 kHz probably). You can select this in the bottom left corner.

    2. Select the whole track (CTRL+A) and click on Effect --> Amplify. Here you can fill in the 'New Peak Amplitude', most of the time I just use 0 dB.
This amplifies the volume equally over the whole track, with the highest peak matched to 0 dB. Most of the track will obviously still be well below the 0dB limit.

    3. I check if there are parts that need extra adjustments.
For example in the picture below I would select the left part of the mix and increase it's volume a bit (or decrease the volume on the right hand side).

Sometimes I do adjust the volume of smaller fragments. It's the same method but this time only select the fragment that you want to adjust.
You can also zoom onto specific parts by selecting them and pressing CTRL+E (or regular zoom by holding the CTRL key while scrolling withyour mousewheel). This makes it easy to do some finetuning.

    4. Repeat step 2 when needed.
If the volume is still too low, you can start looking if you went 'into the red' during your initial recording. Select  your loudest peak and adjust the volume of it manually down a bit. There are plugins to found the loudest peak but doing it by hand works just fine. Then again Amplify the whole track to the desired level.

    That's it, really easy actually

ancientrealms reacted to Spinnet (One Arc Degree) in One Arc Degree
One Arc Degree came to be when I was asked by Fishimself to contribute a track to Ambrosia V/A, for Ultimae Records. My solo works as Spinnet are not in that direction (more for my solo works in another topic!) so I proposed to a friend in Athens to work on something together. We were actually both members in psynews, so we had many common preferences in psychill and trance music (eg. our love for Juno Reactor) and we had tried a collab track in the past, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity.
At that time I had already moved to Kalymnos so we had to work by exchanging project files, back and forth, online. That period was late 2010 - early 2011, and gave birth to Distant Industries featuring some haunting soprano vocals by my wife Georgia Irakli!

Excited by that unique approach, drum & bass inspired groove combined with trance influenced melodies, we moved on to work on new tracks. Relying even more on a drum & bass structure, we released our first single, two original tracks on Evil Audio, a greek drum & bass netlabel, again featuring Georgia's voice.

At the same time, we really wanted to write something closer to the scene that brought us together in the first place. So, that body of work resulted in Rune, paying tribute to the late Pete Namlook...

    https://soundcloud.com/one-arc-degree/rune

...and our first EP, Under A Trillion Suns, which was signed by Microcosmos Records and featured some beautiful artwork by their artist!

During 2014, we also started experimenting with breakbeats, always carrying that melodic character of our music. Our first foray into the world of breaks came with two singles, both released in 2014. A Cup of Tea on Titan was our deeper tune, released on Deep Garnet...

...while High Density Proton Breeze (much more energetic!) was released on VIM Records, last autumn.

    https://soundcloud.com/one-arc-degree/high-density-proton-breeze

As for 2015, we have a couple of deep & melodic breakbeat releases plus two very exciting collaboration EPs. First one is with Erot -and its close to completion- and the second one with Cybernetika. We 'll have to find some time to work on our debut album as well
