  1. Joik and Cantu A Tenore are two indigenous singing styles in Europe. Joik is a non-lexical singing style of the Sami people in northern Scandinavia; the Cantu A Tenore is a traditional kind of overtone singing known in Sardinia (Italy) that is different to the well-known overtone singing in the Himalaya region.

To produce some Ambient which combines these two singing techniques, I am looking for sample packs or virtual instruments containing a variation of phrases of them. But I have no idea if there is anything.

Does anybody know where to find anything that can be legally used in music productions?

An example for Cantu A Tenore (starting at 00:30)

    And for Joiking:

  2. When we were 11 or 12, we listened to a lot of commercial dancefloor productions with rapped lyrics. And we were still childish enough to think that the whole productions match the rap genre. No difference bethween Technotronic and MC Hammer.

A little bit later, we thought that this chart music with electronic beats is (now called) techno. Anyhow we continued to listen the same kind of music. Chart success was a must, because successful music was cool while underground music was something for losers.

We needed to be older than 15 or 16 to have a more qualified taste of music.

It has been over four years since we released our album West Meets East. So it is time for another physical release.

Our new EP 'La Laguna Negra' comes with two tracks merging the typical 1990s Goa sound with post rock.

The first idea was to re-arrange the tracks to get a playing time which matches the size of a 7-inch vinyl single. But the current waiting times to get a vinyl release pressed are too long and the prices have increased too much. For this reason, we decided to release this EP physically on CD containing the tracks in their full length.

The CD is available exclusively on Bandcamp as a limited edition of 55 (only 45 of them are offered).

The digital release is also available on all major download and streaming platforms.

    We hope you enjoy it.

  4. There are many download distributors on the internet like spinnup or feiyr which publish your music on all major download and streaming platforms.

While most of them take any kind of music, does anybody know if there are also download distributors which are more specialized in psybient and other psychedelic music and cover also some specialized download and streaming services?

  5. The recommended operating system version depends on your hard and software.

You need to know for which macOS versions drivers for your audio- and midi interfaces are currently supplied and also if the creators of your software have confirmed that the latest updates are usable. For example, Native Instruments warns very often about updating macOS because the software requires updates which need to be created and tested.

On the other side, drivers and applications require a minimum version to be usable.

  6. Hello,

it is now over four years ago since I released the album "West Meets East". Meanwhile, I published some tracks at soundcloud but I didn't create something which is mixed up more professional, mastered by a sound engineer and released on all major platforms.

But a few weeks ago, I started to improve two songs with the goal to release a two-track EP at Bandcamp and via a digital distributor on other download and streaming platforms. I also thought about releasing a 7-inch vinyl single but I discarded this because pressing plants are currently very overloaded and therefore, prices are too high, the waiting times too long and most plants currently reject new orders because they have too much in their pipelines to complete.

So it will finally become a digital-only release with the following two songs:

    Lets Harvest Colors

    La Laguna Negra

Not updated at soundcloud I already replayed the bass guitar and changed the drum sounds at Lets Harvest Colors. On both songs, I optimized the mixer volumes and the EQ settings of the instrument tracks in both songs, changed the velocity of selected notes and modified some parameters of specific synthesizers with the goal to make everything more audible.

What are your suggestions what I should also change before I should give the audio files to a sound engineer for mastering?

It's been said before, social media is where the discussion is.

I don't know how to find serious discussions on social media platforms and I also have no idea how social media pages are found by their users. The sites at social media platforms of which people take notices are also only needles in a big haystack. A few sites are very active but the majority is nearly ignored.

  8. There are too many terms to describe styles of music. And each of them describes a constricted musical concept without much tolerance for any individualism. As soon as any musican makes his own thing, people start to critise that the music does not match the strict policies of any of these musical concepts. In my opinion, that is a shame.

We should think about less musical styles and tolerate individuality of each artist. So, let psytrance, psychill and psybient be synonyms for each other.

  9. In my opinion, Codex 6 and the "Super Deluxe Edition" of Are You Shpongled? have a very good sound quality but the remastered edition of Tales Of The Inexpressible sounds a little bit worse. I use a Technics SL-1610MK2 with a Technics 207C system.

By the way, the Skylon album by Ott is also still available:

  10. Sorry. That happens if you try to translate words which don't really exist in english. What I meant is playing bass with a dirty effect chain. Two different distortion effects are used around a very low phaser. I thought about replaying the bass sequence (because the instrument could really be played better) using a moderate effect config but I finally decided to keep this trash as it is because I think it also has it's own character.

  11. If the production of Electronic is more or less an hobby and not your main job, you won't have the practice to compose a qualitative song in a few hours - that's normal. So you can either spend more time on your productions than a pro or compose very simple copy&paste-music.

I know a few people who create two to three songs on just one day - background music for movies and commercials or just the music beside the lyrics a songwriter sings. But it is their daily bread and such an output is neccessary if you want to earn an adequate income with your work.
