Ektoplazm

Recommended Posts

check the blog, fb for news. As i know the team is small (1-2 members) and from a direct experience i imagine they don't have time.

somebody suggested me to do a similar to Ektoplazm project for chill music, and of course it would be useful, but i just can't imagine the amount of work necessary to moderate releases / add tags.

There was some problems with hosting service provider. This is from Ektoplazm facebook:

"My host migrated the primary web server to a new machine and it doesn't look like they copied everything over."

But now it's working again :)

I admire the work of DJ Basilisk is doing with the Ektoplazm. Great way to distribute music for free!

Would be great to have this kind of site just for psybient/ambient/downtempo/etc... chiller side of psy-music but I understand that it requires quite amount of hard work...

"Update for winter 2016: Ektoplazm is now closed to applications from the general public until further notice. A limited number of applications from previously established labels and artists will be processed moving forward; please contact us to ask for the link if you haven’t already received it. Thank you for your understanding!"

I believe Bandcamp has the power to provide this service of a free psybient distribution site as long as it's harnessed correctly, which is what I've tried to do with the 2016 releases table that I maintain. Just sort the table by the name your price column twice or type "Free" into the search box above the table to only show free/name your price releases.

That table is very useful, I reckon it's so much easier to find BC music by year and in alphabetical order than googling it, sometimes it takes ages to get to the right page - especially if you don't remember the title of the release. I wasn't quite aware of this feature, thanks for bringing it to my attention timeisart. :)
