yiannis 201 Report post Posted May 20, 2016 Having lived in London for about 10 years I love UK festies. That looks nice. Is it open air or in tents?
neil (spatialize) 77 Report post Posted May 20, 2016 It's one main tent that runs from 5pm until 6am. Like a club in a field. Whirly gig is the club night from London which has been running for years now. From ambient electronica to trance. Live acts up until about midnight and then dj's until dawn. yiannis 201 Report post Posted May 20, 2016 I went to a Whirl-Y-Gig some time in '98 I think, where I saw Gong without even being remotely aware of their existence, tripping. When they played their spacey stuff I was instantly converted. There was some goa/psytrance before them, which was really good, but I can't remember much - it's been a while. The UK is amazing at organising such events. Even non-music festies like the Strawberry Fair, which I went to twice in a row, are fantastic. I miss those days. And London. neil (spatialize) 77 Report post Posted May 20, 2016 ah Gong. Yes. One of my favourites and in 2000 they were really cooking with Zero to Infinity album. At that time they had a GREAT live band and they concentrated more on the spacey funk / jazz side of their style. Late nineties were a really good time for music in the UK. Trance music was just developing and a lot of those were from the psychedelic scene. Eat Static, Ozrics and Banco de Gaia even got in the charts for a short period. 1 yiannis reacted to this
