lol yeah Lorn that's how it goes sometimes, but as the messenger I have to report on all of them.

Nibana, Pranasonics, Sonic Mind and Tactyl are getting my top votes this week

Rakoon always has a unique take on the psydub sound

also Earth Grid & B. Ashra have some interesting techno/psybient blends

thank you again for all your efforts, you are "hero" of psybient :)

thank you for the compliment. I have a question for you (and the rest of the forum too actually).. Are you enjoying this weekly poll format or would you prefer a monthly poll format if I decided to switch over to that?

A monthly poll would be more of a retrospective look back than the "news" format of the weekly polls. I would imagine that most of the releases I post here aren't "news" to anyone because you've heard about them during the week before you see the poll (or am I wrong here?), so a monthly poll might be better to look back on and discuss the best releases.

Making only 12 monthly polls instead of 52 weekly polls seems easier but maybe not since each monthly poll would probably contain 100+ releases each. Is that too much to absorb in one post, even though we'd have an entire month to listen to them before the next poll is posted?

I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this.

I definitely appreciate learning about new releases here and no, I don't necessarily learn about them somewhere else. However, like you suggested, I feel the monthly poll would give a different perspective to the voting. Maybe it could be two separate things, presentation and voting,

Not that there's anything wrong with how things are atm of course.

That's a great idea yiannis.. I've occasionally noticed that some late votes will be added to the previous poll (not the current one), indicating that people might need more time to listen to releases before they make their votes.. so if there were still weekly release presentation threads (to introduce the releases but not containing polls) then at the end of the month have a big poll containing all of the month's releases would be the best of both worlds in my opinion.

obviously the current system and workflow can be optimized, but :

1) still people might not have time to listen the releases from the "latest" week.

2) voting for 40-50 releases can be "hard".

1) what i mean: let's say we have 4 weeks in a month. so when we do a month vote, it will be still "not enough" time for "week 4 (latest week of the month)" release to be heard properly.

solution might be that we move all the votes to the main site. And we use forum to discuss them, but the audio players and vote interfaces will be on the main site. this way we can have votes running in parallel separately on weekly and monthly basis. (in web site we can easily to it - use same releases id )

Both valid concerns but these problems seem unavoidable and will likely be minimized by leaving the voting for the monthly poll open for the entire next month, to allow people time to catch up and absorb the many releases.

If you're talking about using that star rating plug in, the 2016 releases table shows that that voting system is too easily gamed and manipulated (it's obvious that some releases have one person voting on their release multiple times by getting around the plugin's security somehow). It really turned into a mess with all the "fake" votes and so I don't want to continue using that system in 2017. I think keeping the voting limited to a single monthly poll here in the forum will be a much cleaner and "true" option.

yes, i was talking about stars....

i was afraid that people will find a way to trick the system.
